Social corroboration and opinion extremity
Article Abstract:
Social corroboration of categorical judgments increases opinion extremity, whereas, contradiction leads to a decrease in extremity of opinions. These effects exist across different target populations, research designs and dependent variables. Changes in the confidence of individuals are responsible for mediating these effects. Corroboration of an individual's tentative opinion is more likely to increase opinion extremity than corroboration of a confident viewpoint. The corroboration of a normative and non-controversial opinion has little influence on opinion extremity.

How do logical inference rules help construct social mental models?
Article Abstract:
Three experiments were conducted to determine the relation between social inference rules and mental model construction. Results showed that in the application of cognitive rules, social context information is significant. The cognitive image takes the form of social mental models in groups and sub-groups. This is based on the logical inference rules acting as a vital part in the manner of constructing such models and the context cues which determine how influential a given inference rule will be in that process.

".. and besides, I probably couldn't have made a difference anyway:" justification of social dilemma defection via perceived self-inefficacy
Article Abstract:
It is often perceived that doing something for a group would not be that significant. Two experiments were conducted to examine the behavior of being uncooperative in connection with social dilemmas. The idea of justifying uncooperativeness was proven by rationalizing behavior. People practiced this behavior to cope up with guilt, although such uncooperative behavior can lead to negative consequences.
