Stimulus equivalence: Testing Sidman's (2000) theory

Article Abstract:

Sidman's (2000) theory regarding the origin of equivalence relations predicts that a reinforcing stimulus common to distinct equivalence classes must drop out of the equivalence relations. This prediction was tested in a study by arranging class-specific reinforcers, R1 and R2, following correct responding on the prerequisite conditional discriminations (Ax-Bx, Cx-Bx) for stimulus classes A1B1C1 and A2B2C2.

Influence of temporal context on value in the multiple-chains and successive-encounters procedures

Article Abstract:

A set of studies explored the influence of temporal context across multiple-chain and multiple-successive-encounters procedures. The results for the multiple-chain schedule indicate that temporal context does impact the value of a conditioned reinforcer consistent with delay-reduction theory such that a stimulus signaling a greater reduction in delay until reinforcement has greater value.

The value of everyday examples in the teaching of learning: a comment prompted by Machado and Silva (1998)

Article Abstract:

Many scholars regard the psychology of learning as not interesting partly because the field's teaching techniques are not relevant to ordinary life. Using examples from common experience could demonstrate the value of learning theory.
