Systemic analysis of urban water supply and growth management
Article Abstract:
Examination of the problems involved in the construction of a large infrastructure project such as an urban water supply system requires a holistic methodology. While a hard system approach has several limitations such as its incapability in translating imprecise qualitative goals into precise mathematical terms, this type of problem can be solved by using fuzzy mathematics. On the other hand, the limitations of the soft system modeling approach is the delay encountered in developing an acceptable solution to the problem.

Forecasting house rental levels: analytical rent model versus neural network
Article Abstract:
The study conducted by Heng Li and Vera Li proposed a linear analytical model for predicting rent levels based on the mean rent per bedroom for the entire area in consideration, quality index, number of bedrooms, inflation correction factor and area weighting of the suburb. The analytical model was also compared with the alternative analytical neural network (ANN) model based on the training data. Since the authors failed to generate the necessary parameters, it was difficult to evaluate the performance of the ANN model.

Price effects of landfills on different house value strata
Article Abstract:
Landfills have detrimental effects on the value of residential houses. Results of a study negate the findings of a research conducted for Browning Ferris Inc, a major landfill developer stating that landfills have no negative effects on house value. Houses priced at more than $400,000 are more severely affected than those valued at $40,000. Moreover, landfills still can significantly lower the value of a residential house even at a distance of three miles.
