Technology, ideology, and societal development
Article Abstract:
The extent to which ideology and technology affect the overall development of societies was investigated. Specifically, log-linear models were employed to evaluate the impact of religious beliefs and subsistence technology on political complexity, community size, social stratification, marital patterns and premarital sexual norms for girls using data from George Peter Murdock's 'Ethnographic Atlas.' The results indicated that subsistence technology plays a larger role in societies and their development.

Consequences of stereotype suppression: stereotypes on and not on the rebound
Article Abstract:
Three experiments were conducted to investigate the consequences of stereotype suppression. Research focused on boundary conditions to stereotype rebound influences with regards to social group stereotypes. Results provide evidence of the infrequent use of stereotypes among the low-prejudice and the high-prejudice participants indicating that stereotypes were not on the rebound for both sets of participants.

The position of women in information technology - or who got there first and with what consequences?
Article Abstract:
Male domination of information technology and the Internet has far reaching social implications for women. Cyberspace was pioneered mostly by men, has been structured by men, and therefore reflects male socialization and values. The social structure or culture within this male-dominated arena excludes women and sets up barriers to success in a field with far-reaching global importance.
