The changing role of old and new urban centers: The case of the Amsterdam region

Article Abstract:

The Amsterdam urban region and population regional distribution, selective migration, job growth and economic specializations related to the region are analyzed. It is concluded that over the years, the Amsterdam urban region has become more polycentric, the newer and older urban sub centers have become increasingly important but they develop in a complementary way rather than competing with Amsterdam.

Local labor market restructuring and the employment of welfare recipients in Los Angeles County

Article Abstract:

The study explores the effects of local labor market restructuring and the repercussions on the employment scenario in Los Angeles with their welfare policies in force. The reports concluded stating that there were adverse economic instabilities and unemployment in Los Angeles.

Suburbanizing Sofia: characteristics of post-socialist peri-urban change

The nature of peri-urban growth in the Bulgarian city of Sofia and the factors behind it are studied. The changes in rural environs of the city that lead to suburbanization are investigated.
