Reincorporation and the American state in South Korea: the textile industry in the 1950's
Article Abstract:
The incorporation of a peripheral state into the capitalist global economy is studied using South Korea as an example. The relationship between internal economic conditions and the global economy is stressed in studying the cotton manufacturing industry and the role of the US in the incorporation. Results indicate the process to be a 'constrained bureaucratic expansion.' This process was highly affected by the groundwork laid by the Japanese as well as geopolitical factors.

Trends in Asian American racial/ethnic intermarriage: a comparison of 1980 and 1990 census data
Article Abstract:
A comparison of 1990 and 1980 census data revealed significant patterns in racial and ethnic intermarriage involving Asian Americans. Findings show a 10 percent decrease in overall outmarriage levels, mostly due to lower rates of Asian American inter-racial marriages. In addition, an increase in marriages between individuals of different Asian ethnic groups was observed for the period. A widening of marital distance was also noted during the decade.
