Validation of the Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology (IDS) in cocaine dependent inmates

Article Abstract:

This study evaluates the validity of a psychological assessment tool used to measure depressive symptomatology in cocaine-addicted inmates of a county jail. Results establish the construct validity, concurrent validity, and internal consistency of the test and indicate that it is appropriate for use with drug-dependent and prison populations.

The psychosocial treatment needs of street-walking prostitutes: perspectives from a case management program

Article Abstract:

An evaluation is presented of a case management program that provides intervention services to prostitutes involved with the criminal justice system. Treatment recommendations regarding substance abuse, mental health, victimization, child custody, vocational problems, glamorization of prostitution and outreach are discussed.

Affective predictors of voluntary inmate program participation

Article Abstract:

A study examined the influence of traditional factors on inmate participation in self-development programs that encourage prosocial behavior. Results indicate that time served, employment and prior education are significant factors in the likelihood of participation in a program.
