Welfare reform, institutional practices, and service-delivery settings

Article Abstract:

The implications of federal welfare reform for institutional practices and the actual outcomes within the University Park neighborhood in Los Angeles are examined. The multimethod approaches, like descriptive, inferential statistics and also qualitative case studies, are used to seek evidence of change within and across the welfare reform, institutional practices and service-delivery settings.

Bringing globalization home: a homeworker in the information age

Article Abstract:

Studies of a an employee personal narrative reveal that telecommunication empowers the homeworker by allowing greater involvement in economic opportunities, global finance, technology and the media. Findings are based upon interactions throughout the day of one homeworker as compared to those of a retired custodian, a business manager, the businesses' secretary and a media executive.

Air transportation, airports, and the discourses and practices of globalization

Article Abstract:

The relation between transportation and globalization is analyzed through the case studies of two major U.S. airports. The study attempts to show the role history, governance, airline service, and regional economic situation play in mediating the effects of the processes of globalization.
