Yes, but cautiously

Article Abstract:

The need for research-supported clinical social work methods is discussed. Caution can prevent rigidity in formulating and adopting empirically supported practice guidelines. Social work researchers are well suited to develop practice guidelines in the mental health arena, especially with incorporating context and sample diversity.

Article Abstract:

The need for a social work practice network for research to exist before truly useful social work practice guidelines is discussed. Members of this network must include clinical social workers drawn from across the US. Steps for the development of such a practice network are prescribed.
