Diving enthusiasts taking medication should first consult a doctor to determine whether they can be used prior to a dive. Although some medication such as analgesics, can cause no immediate complications, some such as tranquilizers may impair the judgement abilities of a diver.

The maintenance of dental health should be of prime importance to the diving enthusiast. Dental conditions such as barodontalgia, joint and facial muscle pain and the use of prosthetics are concerns worth considering before diving.
