Hyperbaric oxygen - not just for divers
Article Abstract:
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is increasingly becoming popular for many other applications, aside from treating diving accidents. Hyperbaric chambers are also being used in severe burns, gas gangrene and other acute infections, certain crush injuries, carbon monoxide poisoning and tissue injury.

Bone injuries from diving
Article Abstract:
Dysbaric osteonecrosis (DON) is a disease which affects many skin divers who make regular dives and trips to decompression chambers. Although studies are still inconclusive, DON may be caused by bubbles blocking blood vessels during decompression, which cause the bones to collapse.

Many sports medicine practitioners are using hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBO) to rehabilitate soft tissue injuries acquired through sports. However, there is an absence of empirical evidence that shows the effectiveness of HBO treatment.
