A. J. McClane: a tribute

McClane was a masterful fisherman and engaging fishing writer. He was fishing editor for Field & Stream magazine for three decades since 1947. During that time, he fished in 140 different countries, befriending celebrities such as Ernest Hemingway. McClane's writings displayed a technical mastery of fishing.

Planting fish and playing God: by the mid-1870s, eggs from trout native to California were being shipped to the East
Article Abstract:
The fishery industry was well established in the US by the 1870s. The stocking of non-native fish occurred partly as a way to correct the environmental damage caused by industrialization. California trout were established in the East, and eastern bass were transplanted to California.
