A first for the first tee

An evaluation is presented of the First Tee program, which was launched in 1997 to bring thousands of young players to golf. In 2000, the national First Tee Academy saw aspiring golfers from across the United States meeting together.

Golf professionals met at the 1992 Professional Golfers' Assn Teaching Summit to exchange tips and ideas. Trends in teaching the game include more emphasis on the short game, more work on the mental game and more use of videos.
