A star-spangled day

Article Abstract:

Trials for the Women's Olympic Marathon Race were held in Columbia, SC, Feb, 10, 1996. Spangler finished first with a time of 2:29:54. Runner-up Linda Somers was 2:30:18. Anne Marie Lauck was third with 2:30:19. All will run in the Olympic Marathon July 28, 1996. Highlights of the race are described.

Somers' time

Article Abstract:

Linda Somers talks about her running career and her prospects for success at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA. The 35-year-old Somers first adopted the sport in 1981 while a junior in college and quickly became a star.She finished 2nd at the US Olympic trials with a personal best of 2:30:06.
