Overuse injuries in the elite rock climber

Article Abstract:

A study to look at prevalence of pulley rupture and report on other common injuries in hands and elbows in an elite climbing group has been carried out. Overuse injuries, commonly closed rupture of the flexor tendon sheath, as they occur in elite rock climbers are discussed. Traumatic pulley rupture is seen in significant frequency in this group and all with the injury continued to climb at a high standard, reporting no functional disability. One examiner carried out manual testing for clinical bowstringing for each finger.
