Anticipatory effects on knee joint loading during running and cutting maneuvers

Article Abstract:

This article compares the knee joint loading caused by performing unanticipated and planned running and cutting tasks. Findings indicate that unplanned tasks result in significantly increased knee rotation moments and pose a greater risk of knee ligament injuries due to a lack of time to make necessary postural adjustments.

Muscle activation strategies at the knee during running and cutting maneuvers

Article Abstract:

The activation patterns of muscles surrounding the knee during preplanned, unanticipated running, and cutting tasks are investigated. The muscle activation pattern differed between preplanned and unanticipated tasks.

Neuromuscular biomechanical modeling to understand knee ligament loading

Article Abstract:

The uses of EMG-driven neuromuscular biomechanical models to study the way muscles stabilize the knee are described. It is found that there are specific activation patterns used to stabilize the knee by using the EMG-driven neuromuscular biomechanical model.
