Sportsmen get no respect
Article Abstract:
The mainstream media do not give sportsmen credit for their contributions to conservation. Hunters pay fees that are important in funding wildlife conservation. They were instrumental in the recovery of wood ducks and other threatened species.

The government's claims about the increase in the duck population are misleading. Lower quality species such as the red-breasted merganser are more plentiful than higher quality species such as the black duck and the mallard.
