Guatemala Cruising: Keeping peace on the Rio Dulce

Article Abstract:

Ecorio is a legally registered nonprofit organization providing security on the Rio Dulce River. The organization has set up 'roadblocks' and inspects vessels plying the river in the region of Guatemala. Ecorio is also considering representing cruisers who report a crime but leave the region before an arrest is made.

Shoreline: Wianno Senior class rebounds after fire

Article Abstract:

An experience of a family aboard the 25-foot, 53-year-old Wianno Senior that was destroyed on December 10, 2003 due to a blaze is described. The incident occurred off Cape Cod where more than hundred boats were destroyed including nineteen wooden Wianno Seniors and two fiberglass models.

His cutter sets sail: Jose and his Cape Verdean dream

Article Abstract:

Jose Domingo Cruz Lopes, a Cape Verdan cruiser, became captain of his self-built cutter, the Senhora do Monte. He joined the U.S. army, learnt to play five musical instruments and recorded a CD but nothing could give him the satisfaction as fulfilling his dream of building his own boat.
