The high degree of difficulty of the famed Oakland Hills Golf Course once inspired golfing legend Ben Hogan to dub it 'The Monster' after his US Open victory in 1951. The moniker has endured throughout the decades because the course has proven to be no less challenging to other US Open competitors.
