Article Abstract:

The US's wildlife conservation policies should be governed by the principle of habitat protection for threatened species that still exist in the wild. The examples of the red wolf and the black-footed ferret show the limitations of a policy based on species restoration.

Article Abstract:

It is arguable whether the Endangered Species Act is helping to restore animals it protects. The law actually discourages some restoration efforts, such as nests installed by landowners. Owners who do so cede management of their land to the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Will the red wolf kill the ESA?

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of the Endangered Species Act in protecting wild and rare animals in the US is assessed. The prosecutions resulting from the Act and the schemes to reintroduce red and gray wolves to certain areas of the US are examined.
