Christopher Nyerges is an experienced forager who can find food and water in the wilderness. On a trip into the Gabrielino Mountains in California, he prepared meals from acorns, watercress and prickly pear cactus, made tea from white sage leaves, and washed his hands with yucca spears.

A man describes a backpacking trip he took with a friend to the Black Hills area of South Dakota. They entered the region through Wind Cave National Park and saw wildlife such as bison, elk and coyotes. The Sioux and Cheyenne consider the region sacred.
