Intensity of exercise during road race pro-cycling competition

Article Abstract:

Exercise intensity has been studied during road race pro-cycling competition at the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana. Heart rate (HR) responses of 18 world-class cyclists were recorded during the races and compared with HR ranges corresponding to four exercises intensities recorded in the laboratory with an incremental test to exhaustion 2 weeks before each race. It was concluded that cycling is a high-intensity sport because about 93 min in flat and 123 min in mountain stages were above 70% of VO(sub.2max).

Exercise shifts the platelet aggregation modulatory role from native to mildly oxidized low-density lipoprotein

Article Abstract:

A study has been carried out in thirty subjects aged 41-59 to show that the platelet aggregation modulatory role is shifted in exercise from native to mildly oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL). Results suggest strenuous exercise changes modulating functions of native and oxidized LDL on platelet function.

Effect of static and dynamic exercise on heart rate and blood pressure variables

Article Abstract:

Leg exercise produces different heart rates and blood pressure when performed through static or dynamic exercise. Increased blood pressure levels and heart rate during static exercise suggest increased activity in both branches of the autonomic nervous system.
