Certain types of food can affect a person's moods. For instance, carbohydrates and sugars have a calming effect and allow a person to focus and concentrate more. Protein increases alertness and energizes the mind for mental work.

Issues are presented concerning the rising incidence of kidney stones in women. The influence of meat, calcium, salt and chocolate in the diet on the formation of kidney stones is discussed.
