Article Abstract:

More than 50 names were coined to describe the nuances of the boreal north as snow formed an integral part of the natives' lives, especially hunting. Deer anticipate heavy snows that are accompanied by falling barometer and are spurred to feed heavily at a time of day when they might normally be bedded.
