Deer know when hunters enter the woods and move to secure places. On opening day the massive influx of hunters spooks deer. Analysis of the behavior of deer and other hunters aids in success. Deer like to lie low and hunters do not like to sit still.

In deciding whether it is better to hunt deer in the evening or morning it is necessary to take into consideration seasonal changes. Issues concerning the timing of hunts in both the early, the late, and the rutting season are presented.
