A sail lover describes his experience at Juneau Yacht Club's annual race around Admiralty Island in Alaska, while sailing with Brian Lieb's Yamaha 33, Haiku. The Around Admiralty, a resort with few cabins and a long wooden walkway climbing uphill past a roaring waterfall to Baranof Warm Springs was inaugurated in 1984 to celebrate Alaska twenty-fifth anniversary of statehood.

Sailing in Qatar: Future quest

Qatar is known to import almost everything and now it is importing sailors as well as high-profile sports events. The Oryx Quest round-the-world race, the Tour of Qatar bicycle race and many other sports events might put Qatar on the maps as a world sports capital.

Offshore racing Hawaiian style

Three offshore sailing races took place off the west coast of the US during the summer of 2000, all finishing in Hawaii. These were the Single-handed TransPac, the Pacific Cup and the Vic-Maui Race.
