Rule by rule: Rule 9. Information as to strokes taken

According to the United States Golf Association, Rule 9 allows you to ask your opponent the numbers of strokes he has taken after or during play of a hole. If that player offers the wrong information and does not correct himself before the next stroke is played by his opponent, he gets charged with a loss-of-hole penalty.

Rule 25: abnormal ground conditions, embedded ball, and wrong putting green
Article Abstract:
The first section of Rule 25 in the USGA Rules of Golf deals with "abnormal ground conditions." Rule 25-2 offers relief without penalty for a ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in a closely mown area through the green.
