Brusque encounters with mountain bikers, hikers and hunters profess to love the wilderness but cannot meet on common grounds because of their principles. This idea was recently brought home to an elk hunter during an all-day backpacking journey along a less-travelled trail in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.
