Shell shockers: Zebra mussels are changing the fishing in every body of water they colonize
Article Abstract:
Zebra mussels were introduced to the Great Lakes in 1986 and have proliferated greatly since then, and the strong-jawed sheepshead is seen as its only predator. Though they clog pipes, their behavior has also improved water clarity, increased the growth rate of perch and reduced walleye birth.
