The PGA Championship is returning to the revamped Atlanta Athletic Club after a 20-year hiatus. Course architect Rees Jones was hired in 1995 to redesign the Athletic Club, which was originally built with the intentions of being a championship site. The redesigned course features all-new greens, tees and bunker locations.

At the age of 29, Tommy Tolles has begun making an impression on the 1996 PGA Tour. Tolles has enjoyed his greatest success in just his second year on the Tour, having already won $439,000 in prize money on the strength of a string of top-10 finishes.

Issues are presented concerning the work of the East Lake Community Foundation in Atlanta, GA, which was set up in the 1990s to transform a poor neighborhood into a thriving community. The East Lake Junior Golf Academy is discussed.
