Similar histopathological picture in males with Achilles and patellar tendinopathy

Article Abstract:

Biopsies from tendinopathic Achilles and patellar tendons from patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction are studied to ascertain whether there are differences in the histopathological appearance of tendinopathic Achilles and patellar tendons. Tendinopathic Achilles and patellar tendons showed a similar histological picture and it was not possible to identify whether a specimen is harvested from an Achilles or a patellar tendon on the basis of histological examination.

Muscle transplant in the rabbit's Achilles tendon

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effectiveness of a surgical technique that involves the transplantation of soleus muscle fibers into Achilles tendons in rabbits to promote tendon healing. Results indicate that muscle fibers successfully fused with tendons after surgery and were viable three months after transplantation.

Tendon healing stimulated by injected CDMP-2

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effect of local injections of CDMP-2, a substance known to enhance cartilage and bone formation, on Achilles tendon repair in rats. Findings indicate that one injection of CDMP-2 augments tendon repair and improves subsequent tensile strength.
