Article Abstract:

The First 44.7 boat, by Beneteau has all the trademarks of a Farr design, the near-plumb stem, the ultra-fine entry, wide, flat sections aft, the reverse transom, and the deep spade rudder. The First 44.7 is not a cruiser in the traditional sense of passagemaking, but it can be called as 'racy cruiser'.

The experiences of owning Bolero, the 1949 Sparkman & Stephens legend commissioned by John Nicholas Brown, which is one part privilege and one part sacred trust are described. Ed Kane and Marty Wallace have bought Bolero, once a star performer, and have tried to put her back into center stage.
