Schweitzer Mountain Resort in northern Idaho offers a variety of trails, but it still is relatively unknown. The area receives as much as 300 inches of snow per year and offers amenities such as a high-class hotel, day care and excellent food.

Revelstoke, BC, is one of the best places to ski. The town offers mountains, almost 800 inches of powder each winter and heli-skiing. Visitors can enjoy non-skiing activities, such as an active nightlife and a historic downtown area.
