The business of managing: the human factor
Article Abstract:
A survey of 3,000 local and expatriate business executives in 10 Asian countries reveals information about the managerial qualities valued in Asian companies. These vary across the different countries with, for example, 77% of respondents from the Philippines valuing a strong leading presence compared to 50% of the whole survey group. Nearly all respondents believe flexibility and cultural understanding are very important, and two-thirds of respondents feel companies should give preference to recruiting local people. Other issues examined include salaries and the importance of cultural differences.
