PGA tournaments usually designate Wednesdays as Pro/Am day, a day when the pros team up to play with amateurs. Despite the tendency for very slow play, the pros actually like the chance to play with amateurs, many of whom are high-level business executives who can provide good business contacts.

A cup half empty: thanks to some inspired golf, the Presidents Cup is getting better, but it's still an imitation

The Presidents Cup golf tournament has neither the tradition nor the drama of the Ryder Cup. Winning the Ryder Cup seems to be more prestigious than winning the Presidents Cup. However, the Presidents Cup is still a good tournament and could gain more prestige in the future.

Ben Crenshaw beat Davis Love III by one stroke to win the 1995 Masters. The death of golf teacher Harvey Penick just before the Masters made the event an emotional one for Crenshaw, Love and Tom Kite.
