Exhumation and history: Tahar Djaout's 'Les Chercheurs d'os.'
Article Abstract:
Tahar Djaout's novel 'Les Chercheurs d'os' predates the beginning of the current Algerian civil war, but the author's depiction of a corrupt society that has betrayed the ideals they martyrs of the 1954-1962 Revolution espoused foretells the events which have created the tragic turmoil of 1990s Algeria. Djaout's overall metaphor for exploring such themes as history and personal memories of the Algerian War of Independence is the survivors' unearthing of the bones of the martyrs of that war to use them as currency to obtain material advantages in the post-independence era.

Vers l'ontologie de la "Dedicace" des 'Fleurs du Mal.'
Article Abstract:
Baudelaire dedicates 'Les Fleurs du Mal' to Theophile Gautier in a manner that some modern critics have regarded as excessively reverent. While Gautier has been judged a much lesser poet than Baudelaire, nevertheless, Baudelaire's poetry contains many ideas, themes and images inspired by Gautier. A change in the wording of the dedication in the second edition (1861) of the 'Fleurs' seems to distort Baudelaire's intentions. Article text is in French.
