Article Abstract:
Three boats tested for the contest were the Oceanis 36 Center Cockpit, the Beneteau 411 and the Oceanis 381. Of the three, the 411 won the Best Value in a Fullsize Cruiser award, the Oceanis 36 CC was runner in the midsize category while the Beneteaus offered outstanding value.

Designer Gary Hoyt of Newport R and D and Sunfish Laser have added Escape 9 to their product line of sailboats for beginners. The Escape 9 hopes to match the huge sales of its larger predecessor, the Escape 12. The durable, one-seater Escape 9 is priced at $1,899.
