British runner Roger Bannister became the first person to ever break the four-minute mile on May 6, 1954, when he ran the race in 3:59.4. It was one of the greatest moments in sports history. Bannister, now 67 and a physician, discusses that moment and how he views the sport today.

The double double

Article Abstract:

Viren won the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races at both the 1972 and 1976 Olympic games. In 1972 he overcame a fall on the 12th lap of the 10,000 to set a world record. In 1976 he also finished fifth in the marathon.
