Article Abstract:

The strategy for entire legs and to avoid boat-to-boat tactics, as reaches are not considered tactical legs, race committees are often asked to set only windward-leeward courses. Some of the tips for such strategies such as go high on tight reaches, go high early on a planning boat and compensate for current as they are designed to get away from other boats and their wind shadows and into clear and open passing lanes, are discussed.
