Article Abstract:

Hugh Owens, an emergency-room physician and voyager from Pocatello, Idaho talks about his voyage to the Lituya Bay, Alaska with his sailboat called Endurance. The important feature of the Lituya Bay is the 15,320-foot Mount Fair, which is covered with snow 14 miles away from Gulf of Alaska.

The experiences of sailors of the Great-Circle Loop cruising around eastern North America via lakes, rivers and waterways are described. Sections of the Illinois, Mississippi, Ohio, Cumberland and Tennessee rivers of North America are transited by the boat Chip Ahoy.
