Unearthing a gem

Article Abstract:

Alfie Ward and his brother Harry are trying to keep the Arbory Brae Golf Course in Scotland open. The course, which they opened for public play in 2000, was one of 15 abadoned golf courses from the mid-to-late 19th century which the brothers discovered during their research on Biggar Golf Club's centenary history.

Jack the giant killer

Article Abstract:

Jack Fleck was an unknown golfer who had never won a tournament when he beat Ben Hogan to win the 1955 US Open. Fleck, who never won another major competition, says that accounts of the tournament were widely distorted.
