Worrell 1000 gets back to its roots

The winner of the Worrell 1000 race from Fort Lauderdale, FL, to Virginia Beach, VA in May 2000 was Randy Smyth, sailing Blockade Beach Runner Resort. Only one design of yachts, the Inter 20 from Performance Yachts, was allowed to compete this year.

The team of catamarans entering the Race, the non-stop circumnavigation of the globe, will encounter their toughest challenges in the Southern Ocean. Survival is dependent on good planning and deciding when it is appropriate to slow speed.
