Navigation systems integration
Article Abstract:
Ways of improving the accuracy, continuity and integrity of airborne navigation systems are considered, with integration the key concept. Integration is often part of an avionics update, but on new platforms, the navigation system will be designed from the start. Navigation systems integration provides synergy, and in general, the system can integrate many sensors. An example with two sensors, the Inertial System combined with a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, is considered.

Future synthetic aperture radar instrument design using instrument modelling software
Article Abstract:
GEC-Marconi Research Centre (GMRC) has developed a range of software tools to enable investigation of various design options for multi-parameter synthetic aperture radar (SAR) instruments. Details of recent studies using the SAR Instrumentation Modelling Software (IMS) are provided, presented from both the NGSI and CLIMACS potential future systems, along with trade-offs undertaken on the Envisat ASAR coverage and performance.
