Article Abstract:

Video conferencing has emerged as an affordable and effective technology for training and educational applications due to the advent of desktop-video technology and new equipment. The emergence of online-integration technology and lower prices for equipment has also helped video-conferencing technology to be a viable medium for personal communication exchanges. Group-video-conferencing technology, which is usually employed in classrooms or conference rooms, is a benchmark in video conferencing's use for training or communications purposes. Desktop video, on the other hand, has emerged from users' requirements for inexpensive video-conferencing capabilities.

Rural telephony comes into its own

Article Abstract:

Very small aperture terminal (VSAT) technology provides a feasible solution to telephony requirements of rural areas. Using small satellite antennas, VSAT technology provides reliable data, voice and video communications. Moreover, the cost of the technology is steadily declining, which is a favorable trend, considering that cost is the biggest hurdle in connecting the countryside. VSAT operators also do not need to invest a huge amount. In fact, investment can be made in a gradual basis, depending on demand, unlike land-based telephone.
