New cruise ships, being designed and built in the 1980's, combine a design emphasis on efficiency with high standards of luxury and elegance. Careful design results in a feeling of spaciousness even where space is more carefully and efficiently utilized than in previous design. Noise levels are less, and vibration is minimized.
