Dock levelers: your bridge to the customer
Article Abstract:
Choosing and building the right dock leveler can spell the difference between a satisfied customer and a delayed or damaged shipment. Suppliers and shippers are advised to consider the capacity of their lift trucks and the frequency of use in choosing a dock leveler. Also, the dimension, underclearance and wheelbase of lift trucks must be taken into account. Number of dock positions are also a critical issue in designing a new building as it can affect building size and cost. Overall, the right dock leveler assuring smooth transition between dock and truck ensures delay and damage-free deliveries.

Very narrow aisle trucks drive efficiencies up
Article Abstract:
Very narrow aisle (VNA) lift trucks sees growing use as warehousing operations keeps high rise storage systems. The VNA trucks, employed in aisles measuring 60 to 66 inches in width, have two existing configurations with the turret and the swing-mast models. The turret model features fork mechanism that rotates 180 degrees, right or left that allows it to access a palletload on either side of an aisle. Raymond is one of VNA trucks manufacturer with its Swing-Reach trucks that feature a stable three-point driving stance and dual masts.

Improve flow with dock doors, seals and shelters
Article Abstract:
The recent advances in designs of dock doors, shelters and seals could result in potential savings for firms due to increased efficiencies for a particular firm's operations. Factors such as opening speed, frequency of usage and security concerns ought to be considered by a company when selecting an appropriate dock door. The added insulation brought by shelters and dock seals to dock doors should also be considered as there are different types of designs for each that would fit a particular business.
