LNG carriers running out of steam

Article Abstract:

The commercially viable alternatives to steam turbine engines as a propulsion system of choice in LNG carriers are gas turbines, dual fuel diesel electric using medium speed engines and slow speed diesel with mechanical drive. The maintenance of gas turbines is less time-consuming and gas turbines are an environment-friendly option for power production.

Trade Associations u Industry champion or gentlemen's 'Club'?

Companies think that Trade Associations are unnecessary. SMM 2004 could be a good chance to change their perception. If companies see the value trade association could be the voice of smaller companies.
