Making ballast water safe
Article Abstract:
According to the International Maritime Organization, the four main threats to the oceans are, invasive of marine species into new environments via ships' ballast water, land-based sources of marine pollution, the over exploitation of marine living marine resources and the physical alteration or destruction of marine habitat. Among various attempts being made to effectively treat ballast water treatments includes, the AOT solution proposed by Alfa Level. The treatment method currently on trial on aboard on a Wallenius marine transoceanic car carrier and the results shall be obtained by 2006.
