Realism is the key
Article Abstract:

Article Abstract:
The 1995 amendments to the IMO's Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers were meant to give light to various interpretations on the mandate. Standards governing the use of simulators in training are included in the regulation which also requires that the simulator must be able to simulate physical realism relevant to training objectives, operating capabilities of shipboard equipment and the limitations of the equipment.
