Plenty of orders
Article Abstract:
The shipbuilding industry of The Netherlands posted revenues of 2.2 billion guilders ($1.18 billion) for 1997 to maintain its 2.2% share of the world market. The industry's strategy of focusing on specialized vessels such as dredgers, tugs, fishing boats, refrigerated ships, high-speed vessels and tankers, seems to have paid off with orders for new boats already booked till the end of 1999. The Netherlands is ranked among the top 10 shipbuilding nations in the world.
